Our society has a habit of valuing things from a single perspective, which limits our ability to see things in a broader sense. This can cause chaos when people are not equipped to handle various situations within society. Unfortunately, many of us are guilty of being close-minded and judgmental due to this narrow viewpoint.

For instance, we might unfairly judge children from broken homes as troublemakers, or assume that someone with a strong introverted side cannot be a leader. Similarly, we might label a student who receives a C as incompetent and without a bright future. These paradigms are harmful and need to be broken.

To prevent conflicts and unwanted situations, we need to practice the Helicopter view. This mindset allows us to see things from different angles, perspectives, values, causes, and angles. By embracing it, we can show greater respect for everything.

Here are some ways in which the Helicopter view can help us think more wisely, particularly when it comes to leadership roles:

  • Finding Solutions Quickly: When faced with obstacles, we can often struggle to find the right solution because we only see things from one angle. But by opening our minds to different possibilities, we can connect the dots and find a way to solve the problem quickly.
  • Preventing Misunderstanding and Miscommunication: By taking a step back and seeing things from a higher perspective, we can prevent conflicts and improve communication. When we zoom out, we can see how everything is interconnected.
  • Sharpening Analytical Thinking: Looking at things from different angles can help us to think more analytically and see many possibilities. It’s like looking at a sculpture from different angles and seeing various shadows. When we learn to explore different perspectives, we broaden our horizons.
  • Broadening Our Knowledge: When we see things from different angles, we gain a more comprehensive understanding of various fields. For example, a marketing manager who understands the connection between digital ads, SEO, social media, content marketing, data, and design can provide more effective solutions.
  • Encouraging Creative Collaboration: Strong teams require leaders who can combine different skills and potentials. When a leader can see how all functions work under the same frequency, creative collaboration can happen within the team. This can lead to powerful results, such as the development of innovative infographics.

In short, the Helicopter view is a crucial mindset that can help us see things more clearly and make better decisions. By practicing it, we can broaden our perspectives, learn new things, and become more effective leaders.
